CPA Live

The Choreographic Platform Austria (CPA) aims to make the diverse choreographic activities in the Austrian provinces visible to national and international audiences. This is achieved through a biennial event presenting outstanding dance and performance productions from Austria. Additionally, the CPA operates as an online platform.

The CPA festival 2023 took place from Thursday, October 19th, to Saturday, October 21st, 2023, at Festspielhaus St. Pölten (Lower Austria) and in Vienna at brut, Tanzquartier Wien, Volkstheater Wien, Der Betrieb, and Seestadt Studios. It was curated by a group of leading institutions in the field of dance, choreography, and performance, including brut, Tanzquartier Wien, Festspielhaus St. Pölten, ImPulsTanz, Osterfestival Tirol, and SZENE Salzburg. The three-day program included 13 productions, featuring not only major works by renowned choreographers but also smaller formats and pieces by newcomers. The artistic program was complemented by Pitching Sessions, providing an opportunity for 12 additional artists to present their work in a moderated setting, and screenings of choreographic films, some of which were created during the pandemic lockdowns. The next platform will take place in 2025.

The CPA is equally funded by the Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, Public Service, and Sport and the Cultural Department of the City of Vienna. Additionally, the states of Lower Austria, Burgenland, Salzburg, Styria, Carinthia, Upper Austria, Tyrol, and Vorarlberg also contribute.
